John Matthews knows a thing or two about Wisconsin’s educational system. He also knows a great deal about issues facing workers on the job and what makes for good labor relations. That’s because John Matthews has been working in the field union leadership as a career for more than 40 years. John is the executive director of Madison Teachers, Inc, the union representing Madison public school teachers, substitutes and support staff. It’s a position he has held since 1968 and one that has garnered him great respect from both sides of the bargaining table. In addition, John as served on many boards in both the public and private sectors. He has been a lecturer at the college level and has written papers and been a presenter on a range of issues facing workers across Wisconsin.
