Frederick J. Wenzel, MBA, FACMPE, currently is an Assistant Professor at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Marshfield Clinic Research and Education Foundation for sixteen years and then Executive Director of the Marshfield Clinic for seventeen years. He now serves on the Clinic's National Advisory Council and is Advisor to the President of the Clinic. Frederick was Executive Vice President and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association of Englewood Colorado from 1993-1996 and continues to work with that organization on committees and task forces. He served on the Commission for Accreditation for Health Management Education where he completed two years as chair of the Commission. He also serves on the Boards of the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation in Madison, as well as with many other health and medical related boards around the country. In addition to teaching, Frederick speaks at regional and national conferences and consults with health care organizations throughout the country. He also is an author, editor and contributor on healthcare leadership books. Frederick is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago and is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives.
There is an increasing need for leaders and managers in both healthcare and research in the health sciences. The presentation will focus on where those needs lie and the kind of background and education necessary for pursuing careers in these areas. There will be a focus on the need to prepare broadly because of the rapidly changing healthcare systems. (Running Time 24:02)
