Julie grew up on a modern commercial dairy farm in central Wisconsin. During her early years her responsibilities on the farm grew from helping feed calves to managing post fresh cows. She was heavily involved in agriculture growing up and competed showing livestock in 4H for 12 years. Her passion for the industry continued into high school where she was active in her FFA chapter, serving as chapter President and receiving her State FFA degree. In the spring of 2006, her family sold the dairy farm. Julie’s passion for the dairy industry continued as she pursued a degree in Dairy Science from the University of River-Falls. Following graduation, she worked as a livestock nutritionist in Northwest Wisconsin for 3 years before becoming a farm business instructor in the technical college system.
From mixing feed on her own family farm to creating the recipe for cows on different farms across the nation, the dairy nutritionists job is to problem solve and create a balanced, healthy meal for the animals that help feed us. Julie will walk you through the educational pathways to becoming a nutritionist. She will shed light on the different day to day activities of a nutritionist.
